Weingut Peter Jakob Kühn, located in the Rheingau village of Oestrich, is now in the very top echelon of German producers. The estate is run by Peter Jakob, an 11th generation winemaker, and his wife Angela. This is also an estate where the next generation, Peter Bernhard and Sandra, have joined their parents full time at the winery. Weingut Peter Jakob Kühn has been farmed biodynamically since 2004, still one of the few in the region. Much labour is put into nurturing the soil health of the vineyards and creating high quality compost.

This part of the Rheingau is a gentler slope facing south towards the river. The grapes have a slightly riper fruit quality than typically seen in the Mosel. Kühn is predominantly a dry Riesling estate with only 5% sweet wine production. The wines are taut and minerally in their youth and develop aromatic herbal characters with time in the bottle. They achieve a striking balance of ripeness, complexity, and elegance. Their top Grosses Gewächs include Doosberg, Lenchen, and Sankt Nikolaus. VDP Estate.
